Here are just 10 points to think about:
1.
Around 900.000 humans are still being trafficked across international borders annually, and this is the second largest criminal industry ww (worldwide). Of those approx. 80% are female - 50% are minors.
2.
Approx. 1 million children (mostly girls) are traded into the national and international sex trades. Annually.
3.
Prostitution and human trafficking is the 3rd largest income-earner ww.
4.
Prostitution is still the largest reason for female arrests. On account of numbers of arrests alone, over 1.5 million women have had experiences with prostitution ww in 2008.
5.
It is still estimated that 1/3 of all women ww have experienced sexual assault or abuse.
6.
In Denmark, women are still being criminalised when reporting sexual assults and abuse. As a result, it is estimated that only 1 in 20 sexual crimes are being reported.
Of those, only 1 in 5 cases lead to a conviction.
7.
It is estimated that more than 10% of all women have experienced random or domestic violence.
8.
According to international surveys, more people would report animal cruelty than domestic violence.
9.
More than 60 million women are ”missing” due to gender selected abortions and female infanticide.
10.
Women worldwide still haven't reached equal pay for equal work...!!!
Why is it that we still are considered lesser than men on so many aspects and virtually on all continents?
I haven't really thought about it, to be honest. And maybe that is part of the problem...

I think it's really easy for us to be complacent because after all most of the time our situation is tolerable. I think it's very important that we push ourselves outside of our comfort zones and confront these issues.
Thanks for the very thought provoking post.
Dear Tracy.
I agree with you 100%!
Sometimes we need to open our eyes and see what life is also about, if we want a better world.
